BROODMARES
Captive Pro was purchased for the sole purpose of breeding a Kentucky Derby winner. Captive Pro's
pedigree traces back to the great breeding operation of Tartan Farms Corporation, who also bred and managed 1991 Kentucky Derby winner Unbridled. Her third dam, Princess Ribot, produced Cascapedia, the 1977 Champion Handicap mare. Her sixth dam, Betty Derr, has indirectly produced a plethora of Kentucky Derby winners. Betty Derr was inbred to the classic blood of St. Simon, and was a full sister to 1929 Kentucky Derby winner Clyde Van Dusen. In 1937, Betty Derr was bred by Louis B. Mayer to 1937 US Triple Crown winner War Admiral (Man O' War) and produced daughters Iron Maiden and Iron Reward, whom, in turn, produced 1955 Kentucky Derby winner Swaps (Iron Reward) and 1957 Kentucky Derby winner Iron Liege (Iron Maiden). Also, Captive Pro’s damsire, Great Above, is the sire of Holy Bull, whose son Giacomo won the 2005 Kentucky Derby.
Captive Pro is inbred through five generations to Intentionally (4Dx5d) and Rough & Tumble (5dx5D). She is also inbred to War Relic (Man O’ War), who appears sex-balanced in the fifth and sixth generations of Captive Pro’s pedigree (5S x 5s x 6D) through his son Intent and his daughter Iltis. She also has one line-breeding to Triple Crown winners War Admiral (Man O’ War) and Citation (Bull Lea) within six generations.
Captive Pro is currently in foal to the cover of 1994 Kentucky Derby winner
Go For Gin. Her 2008 Go For Gin foal is due in April of 2008. (Go For Gin’s foals have average earnings on the racetrack of US$65,075). The 2008 foal's
pedigree will produce a cross-duplicate inbreeding to dual Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe winner Ribot (4Sx5d). She currently resides at
Murmur Farm, in Darlington, Maryland. (A Jockey Club Certificate will be added to this website in due course and is available for viewing upon
request)
Back Stage Harlot's
pedigree is a mixture of European turf breeding and American dirt breeding. She has a superb, stamina-based pedigree and her foals will likely do well racing on turf in the UK and in the US.Her damsire is Stage Door Johnny, who won the 1968 Belmont Stakes, and she has a same-sex, cross-duplicate inbreeding to Princequillo - through his sons Round Table and Prince John. She also has a sex-balanced, cross-duplicate inbreeding (5 bloodlines) to 1943 Triple Crown winner Count Fleet in the fifth, sixth, and seventh generations of her pedigree. She descends from a female family that has won graded-stakes and has produced graded-stakes winners, and her pedigree traces tail-female to Toque, a daughter of European classic winner Pardal, who is a son of La Troienne’s 3/4 sister Adargatis. Back Stage Harlot is currently pregnant with a foal from 1994 Kentucky Derby winner
Go For Gin. Her 2008 Go For Gin foal is due in April of 2008. (Go For Gin’s foals have average earnings on the racetrack of US$65,075). The mating of Back Stage Harlot and Go For Gin will produce a cross-duplicate inbreeding (3sx3d) to 1968 Belmont Stakes winner Stage Door Johnny, as well as another two line-breedings to daughters of Triple Crown winner Count Fleet (5sx5S) in the offspring's
pedigree. She currently resides at
Murmur Farm, in Darlington, Maryland. (A Jockey Club Certificate will be added to this website in due course and is available for viewing upon
request)
Jackoranda’s
pedigree is well-suited for US dirt racing. Her strong female family traces tail-female to La Troienne, the best broodmare in U.S. thoroughbred history (It is the same female family as the one in the pedigree of 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Smarty Jones). She is also inbred to the great racemare and broodmare Almahmoud, through her two best daughters, Natalma and Cosmah. (Normally, Almahmoud in-breds are usually in-bred to Northern Dancer through Natalma, but not Cosmah, who is linebred to Almahmoud through Halo).
In 2007, Jackoranda gave birth to a beautiful filly to be named C'est Chic (see below). Jackoranda is presently in foal to the cover of 1994 Kentucky Derby winner
Go For Gin, who stands at
Bonita Farm for a stud fee of US$4,000. Her 2008 Go For Gin foal is due in April of 2008 (Go For Gin’s foals have average earnings on the racetrack of US$65,075). The 2008 foal's
pedigree will produce, through five generations, a sex-balanced, cross-duplicate inbreeding to dual Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe winner Ribot in the 4th and 7th generations (4Sx7Dx4d). She currently resides at
Murmur Farm, in Darlington, Maryland. (A Jockey Club Certificate will be added to this website in due course and is available for viewing upon
request)
Sidewalk Talk is extremely well-bred for European racing. Her
pedigree is substantially similar to the pedigree of
Specifically, a sale-topping broodmare that sold for
US$3.8 million at the (IRE) Tattersall's auction in 2006. She is a half-sister to multiple graded-stakes placed Bella Banissa (US). Her female family has produced Speciosa, winner of the 2006 One Thousand Guineas; Pride, the 2006 Champion race-mare in the UK; and Touching Wood, who won the English and Irish St. Leger Stakes and ran second in the Epsom Derby in 1979. Her fifth dam is Miss Disco, dam of Bold Ruler (arguably the best U.S. stallion in the history of the thoroughbred breed, since he produced 1973 US Triple Crown winner Secretariat). She will likely be bred in 2008 to
Dubawi (stud fee, 25,000 sterling), winner of the 2005 Irish Guineas and noteworthy 3rd in the 2005 Epsom Derby behind Motivator. For the 2007 calendar year, Sidewalk Talk will reside at
McMahon Thoroughbreds. (A Jockey Club Certificate will be added to this website in due course and is available for viewing upon
request)
YEARLING(S)
Quiet Dreamer was purchased, in utero, as a package-deal with his dam, Back Stage Harlot (see above,
Back Stage Harlot). He was born on April 02, 2006 at a farm in Toledo, Ohio, and is therefore an Ohio-bred foal. He has an excellent
pedigree for classic-distance races, buttressed by Back Stage Harlot’s European breeding. He belongs to the first crop of his sire, Quiet American Force, a young son of Quiet American. (Quiet American, who is the sire of 1998 Kentucky Derby winner Real Quiet and the damsire of 2005 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Saint Liam). We believe that Quiet Dreamer will be a good long-distance runner and, we expect him to compete in classic-distance races in Maryland and in Ohio in March of 2008. Being an Ohio-bred, he will ultimately be trained and developed to race as a two-year old in the Grade-2 US$200,000 Cradle Stakes at River Downs and in the Grade-2 $350,000 Ohio Derby. We would like to see him race in classic-distance races in the UK as a four-year old. (A Jockey Club Certificate will be added to this website in due course and is available for viewing upon
request)
3-YEAR OLDS
Moonshine Talk is a grandson of Grade-1 Travers Stakes winner Carr De Naskra out of Sidewalk Talk (see above). He has plenty of stamina in his
pedigree to win classic-distance races, and we believe he will be best suited for racing in Europe as a four-year old.
In training this summer, he showed the same competitiveness as runners from his strong female family (see above, Sidewalk Talk), and we expect him to be a graded-stakes winner in due time. He is the first of our thoroughbreds to be trained in accordance with our CEO’s training methodology. He was trained in this manner at
Bonita Farm for a period of four months before suffering a minor set-back. Moonshine Talk is now ready for serious training again and (assuming adequate capital for his training) should be ready to race in the first week of December of 2007. (Click
here to see the Jockey Club Certificate of Moonshine Talk)
Full Coverage is a 2004 New York-bred colt. His
pedigree has lots of stamina on both his sire's side and dam's side of the family. He descends tail-male from the Ribot sire line and is out of a female family that produces very competitive thoroughbreds, especially race-mares. For instance, his fifth dam, Twilight Tear, was a champion race-mare, beating males in the Pimlico Special in 1941. Also, on his sire's side, the pedigree traces tail-female to a few graded-stakes mares and one Delaware Oaks winner.
Based on his training this summer, he has proved to be a very competitive animal and will make a hardy athlete that will give us his best each time on the racetrack. He will be ready to race in January of 2008. (A Jockey Club Certificate will be added to this website in due course and is available for viewing upon request)
2007 FOALS
In March of 2007, our broodmare Jackoranda gave birth to this beautiful filly by Mo Mon (Maria's Mon). (Mo Mon is a half (1/2) brother to Breeders' Cup Distaff Winner Adoration. She will be named C'est Chic (which means "Very Fashionable" in French). Her
pedigree has plenty of stamina to win classic-distance races, buttressed by Jackoranda’s excellent dirt breeding. The stallion Maria's Mon has already produced 2001 Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos, and we believe that this sire line will produce a future Kentucky Oaks winner as well. Besides her good looks, she has the class in her pedigree to become a graded-stakes winner in the US (see above,
Jackoranda). Accordingly, we expect great things to come from her in 2009 and 2010. (We are in the process of registering C'est Chic with the Jockey Club and therefore do not yet have her Jockey Club Certificate)
